Sand Volleyball Rules

Description
Leagues and tournaments are organized for men’s, women’s and co-rec competition. Divisions of play include Greek and Open Divisions. Men's Greek leagues are divided into Greek Division I, II, and III. Any division (i.e. Greek & Open) may be combined to allow for greater participation and competition.

Sand Volleyball is based on a six games, round-robin regular season followed by a single elimination tournament (please see the playoff section of the RecSports handbook for further details). Regular season games will be played as double headers over 3 weeks. Some teams may receive fewer than six regular season games due to the number of teams enrolled, forfeits, defaults, and/or weather.

All teams who meet sportsmanship and forfeit requirements qualify for playoffs. An average of at least 3.5 in Sportsmanship points is required for the playoffs. Brackets larger than 16 teams may be subject to being split into smaller brackets. However, due to the number of teams and the limited time available to complete the playoffs, the requirements may be adjusted at the RecSports Coordinators discretion. Further information will be available during Playoff Meetings for each sport. For more information, refer to the RecSports handbook.

Registration Information
Leagues will be filled on a first come first serve basis so register early. A minimum of four teams are required to implement the league.

Once a time slot is filled it will be closed.

Review the registration sheet online, choose the time & league you want to play and come to the RecSports Office to pay. After you have paid for your team, you will be given an website link to go to and complete your registration.

Forms of payment accepted: Check, Credit/Debit Card and Student Charge.

To accurately plan for all your teams’ needs, choose several slots your team prefers to play. Remember, these times are available on a first come, first serve basis. Once a time is filled, it will be closed. Once all leagues are filled, registration will be closed.
