- Aquatic Event Frontline View Description
Aquatic Event Frontline assist with competitive events hosted in the Mizzou Aquatic Center, Family Night in Tiger Grotto, Watch Parties, and any other special events that may take place within the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Individuals must be personable, be assertively friendly and exhibit exemplary customer service skills. Hosts must have the ability to work non-traditional hours including early mornings, late nights and weekends. Event staff must demonstrate initiative and be attentive to details.
- Lifeguard View Description
Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Must have the ability to work non-traditional hours such as late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays. This position requires good decision-making skills and the ability to work with little supervision. Individuals must be assertively friendly and have an extensive working knowledge about facilities and services. This individual must remain American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certified during course of position.
Specifically for January 2016 hiring:
- Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AEDCertifications.

- Tiger Swim Lesson Instructor View Description
Swim Lesson Instructors plan and conduct classes-oriented 30 minute – 45 minute classes for swim lesson participant. Instructors provide leadership and guidance of skills during class through attentiveness to each participant’s swimming and learning needs.
- Lifeguard Instructor View Description
Responsible for conducting ARC Lifeguarding Certification, Lifeguarding Recertification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers, First Aid/CPR/AED classes in a manner consistent with course design. Must be currently certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor/First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.

This individual must be comfortable and confident with managing the Club Sports program budget, and must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. It is preferred this individual have a business major or a related field.

- Audience Engagement Specialist View Description
We are seeking an outgoing and self-motivated individual with a desire to learn and write about the various programs and activities which take place at MizzouRec. This position will primarily be responsible for writing feature articles for MizzouRec NATION magazine, which is published every fall and spring semester (twice annually). The audience engagement specialist will also be creating content on a weekly basis for mizzourec.com, and will help to manage and contribute to MizzouRec’s social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Subject matter will include student profiles, facility information pieces, nutrition and fitness, and sports and competition programs.
Ideal candidates will possess excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Priority will be given to applications that include links to writing samples (short articles and non-personal social media examples preferred). Additional responsibilities may be added as the position develops.
- Design Assistant View Description
The design assistant is responsible for aiding the Graphic Designer in visually marketing programs and activities which take place at MizzouRec. This position requires the individual to understand the “look” of MizzouRec, and take creative initiative to support and strengthen its visual message. The design assistant will often work directly with internal clients, and is expected to communicate professionally with full-time staff at MizzouRec.
Ideal candidates will be creatively motivated and have experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Candidates should be comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment, be attentive to details, and receptive to critique. Priority will be given to applications that include a link to a portfolio of work.
- Multimedia Production Specialist View Description
The multimedia production specialist is responsible for documenting the programs, activities, and facilities of MizzouRec. This position may serve as either a videographer or photographer. Candidates must have a strong grasp on storytelling through the use of video, photographs, and still and motion graphics. Ideal candidates will also have a mastery of the technology necessary to produce high-quality videos and photographs. The individual will be managing his or her projects from beginning to end, but should be comfortable working in both independent and team environments. This position sometimes requires non-traditional hours, including late nights, early mornings, and weekends.
Ideal candidates will exhibit professionalism in varied circumstances, and take great pride in the quality of his or her work. Candidates should be comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment, be attentive to details, and receptive to critique. This position requires the individual to be experienced in both video production and editing processes. Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X is preferred. Priority will be given to applications that include a link to a demo reel or portfolio.
- Photographer View Description
The photographer is responsible for documenting the programs, activities, and facilities of MizzouRec. Assignments include photographing Club and RecSports games, studio shoots of people and/or products, documenting new equipment or facility upgrades or changes, photographing events that take place within MizzouRec, and taking photos as needed for MizzouRec Nation magazine which is published each fall and spring semester (twice annually).
This position sometimes requires non-traditional hours, including late nights, early mornings, and weekends.

- Climbing Wall Technician View Description
Oversee the daily operations of the climbing wall area. Train students to belay, supervise climbing wall activities, and encourage new climbers to join the sport. Create and use new routes on Brewer Butte.

Responsible for the exterior upkeep of the facility, and grounds up keeping, using several different machines, snow removal, bed and plant maintenance
- Maintenance & Repair Technician View Description
Individuals in this position are required to have significant proven experience repairing and maintaining aspects of interior and exterior facility space. Problem solving skills are essential as this is primarily an independent position. This position must be willing to perform various tasks including painting, electrical work (light/lamp replacement,) trash removal, custodial maintenance, and other miscellaneous projects.
- Facility Frontline Staff View Description
This person is responsible for delivering quality guest service to student and non-student members. Individuals must be assertively friendly and have a working knowledge about facilities and services provided to members.
Under the supervision of the Facility Leads and Facility Coordinators, frontline staff will facilitate services at the east and west access points, all fitness spaces and Brewer Station, the equipment checkout desk at the Student Recreation Complex.
Frontline staff members work to enhance the experience of MizzouRec members through excellent customer service and must take pride in the quality of their work and demonstrate initiative.
- Lifeworks Instructor View Description
Lifeworks instructors are responsible for designing varying courses for instruction to adult learners with varying educational levels, abilities, and backgrounds. An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify an applicant to teach Lifeworks Dance classes.

- Trained in the style of ballet and one other dance genre (jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, pointe)
- Member of a competitive dance team for 2+ years (having leadership on the team is a plus)
- Personal Trainer View Description
The personal trainer will conduct safe and effective training sessions within the personal training program at MizzouRec. They will coach, inspire and motivate clients to reach mutually established goals; perform fitness assessments and evaluations; deliver a positive fitness experience for members and clients; and develop training sessions based on clients’ history and future goals.
Completion of the MizzouRec Personal Trainer Prep Course or national certification is preferred to apply. Must obtain and maintain national certification as well as CPR/AED certified during the course of the position.
- TigerX Instructor View Description
The TigerX Instructor provides group fitness instruction in the TigerX program at MizzouRec. Instructors are responsible for leading a variety of group fitness classes, planning/leading classes, developing exercise routines, monitoring participants’ exercise form, and motivating participants in the TigerX program. Completion of MizzouRec Instructor Training Course expected or national certification preferred.
Must obtain and maintain national certification as well as CPR/AED certified during the course of the position.
- BoxMaster® Instructor View Description
Instructors for Clark’s Boxing Gym are responsible for designing varying classes for instruction to participants with diverse skill levels, abilities, and backgrounds. An appropriate combination of education, training and experience may qualify an applicant for BoxMaster® instructing.

- Membership Specialist View Description
A Membership Specialist is responsible for customer service to members and guests in the areas of, but not limited to, answering questions regarding membership, member and guest policies and services, and other programs offered by MizzouRec Services & Facilities; providing prospective member forms, assisting with locker rental and locker room access control issues, providing/assisting with tours, and miscellaneous office tasks such as answering the phone and filing. This individual must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to work proactively within a team.
- Membership Auditor View Description
A membership auditor is responsible for the review of all new and renewal membership applications for accuracy. They will conduct semester audit of all accounts and make corrections and updates as appropriate. The auditor will also provide weekly updates on staff performance with respect to the accuracy of their renewals and new applications processed. Additionally, they may be tasked with office support such as filing, phone support and the conversion of all paper membership files to a digital filing system. Applicants must be able to work independently with strong attention to detail, 6-10 hours per week. Preferred applications will have experience with auditing or related skills. Additionally, applicants from the Trulaske School of Business are preferred.
- Official Scorekeeper View Description
The official scorekeeper is responsible for keeping accurate records of the basketball game such as scoring, time-outs, fouls, jump balls technical fouls, etc.
- Official Timer and Shot Clock Operator View Description
The official timer and shot clock operator is responsible for operating the game clock and the shot clock. The official timer is responsible for keeping the official time and posting the correct score on the scoreboard. The shot clock operator is responsible for the running of the shot clock. Both positions need to be at the scorer’s table a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the start of the game. Both positions duties are over when the game is officially over.
- Statistician View Description
On game days, the Statistician will serve as lead event staff: expected to arrive 1.5 hours prior to game time, required to dress appropriately for the game(s), and will help with the setup of the facility. This includes team benches, the scorer’s table, and spectator seating. Staff is expected to set up their own functional area. The setup of functional areas should be completed thirty minutes to tip-off. After the game, the Statistician is responsible for teardown of his or her functional area and securing the equipment they use. For away games, staff will assist in loading and unloading the equipment, wheelchairs, and luggage onto the bus. Student staff members are expected to work events and demonstrations as needed.
- Videographer and Marketing View Description
The videographer/marketing person is responsible for; the update and preparation of the Media Guide; scheduling the photo shoot for the schedule materials; distribution of the schedules to local businesses; promotion of the team’s games to the local media; reporting the game results to the local media; videotaping all of the team’s games; making copies of the games; promoting team achievements, events and news via social media; the team newsletter; updating the team web page; working with the program’s booster club; will assist with the set up and take-down of the facility before and after games and other duties as assigned.
- RecSports Office Staff View Description
The RecSports Office Staff member will be responsible for demonstrating leadership within the RecSports program as represented through their ability to provide exceptional customer service to all participants and employees; routinely provides suggestions and implementation plan of action that would result in program improvement. Must be reliable and have schedule availability to allow for at least 9 hours per week for assisting with program activities. First Aid/CPR certification preferred. RecSports Office Staff work evenings, nights and Sundays. Some weekend hours will be required.
- RecSports Official View Description
The RecSports Official will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators. Demonstrate absolute control of the game/activity by enforcing all rules. Customer service skills and knowledge of sport are crucial to being a successful official.

This position is responsible for assisting computer users within MizzouRec with computer problems and projects. Additionally, this position performs computer related upgrades under the direction of the IT Manager or other designated information technology staff. RecTech applicants should be hardworking and highly motivated. Someone seeking a degree in IT or other computer related field preferred.
